To help clients access suitable products and services, Milways Group and its subsidiaries (the "Group") may use client information to provide the best possible service. We understand the importance you place on the use of your personal data, and the Group has therefore adopted the following principles in our continuing commitment to client confidentiality.
At all times, individual clients must provide personal data (the "Data") to the Group for purposes under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486 of the Laws of Hong Kong). Such Data (or other information) may be used for the following purposes:
1. Collection of Personal Data
- —The day-to-day operation of services and facilities provided to clients;
- —Conducting background checks on clients;
- —Assisting other institutions to conduct background checks on clients;
- —Ensuring clients maintain good credit standing;
- —Designing services or related products for client use;
- —Promoting services and related products to clients;
- —Determining amounts owed to or by clients;
- —Meeting disclosure requirements under any applicable law or regulation; and
- —Any purpose related to any of the foregoing.
2. Disclosure of Data
- —Any officer, employee, agent, contractor or third party that provides administrative, transactional, debt-collection, telecommunications, computing, payment or other services to the Group in connection with its operations;
- —Any financial institution with which a client has or proposes to have dealings;
- —Regulatory authorities and other relevant government bodies;
- —Any other party under a duty of confidentiality to the Group, including companies within the Group that have undertaken to keep such information confidential;
- —The use of client information between Group companies is subject to strict internal security standards, confidentiality policies and applicable laws;
- —Employees are required to comply fully with these standards, policies and laws;
- —Except where necessary to conduct business, comply with applicable law, protect against fraud, or offer products and services we believe may be in the client's interest, we do not distribute client information to other companies. We may also provide information to regulators and law-enforcement officials as required by law;
- —We maintain stringent standards to protect client data against unauthorised alteration or destruction.
3. Data Matching and Transfer
- —The Group may match, compare or exchange any data or other information provided by or relating to a client with data (or other information) held by the Group or any other party for the following purposes:
- —Client background checks;
- —Verification of data (or other information); or
- —Producing or verifying data (or other information) that may be used at any time to take action adverse to the client or any other party;
- —Transferring such data (or other information) to any location outside Hong Kong (regardless of where it is processed, held or used outside Hong Kong).
4. Direct Marketing
- —Client names, contact details, product and service information, transaction patterns and behaviour, financial background and statistical data held by the Group from time to time may be used by the Group for direct marketing;
- —The following categories of services and products may be promoted: gold and silver investment and related services and products; rewards, incentive or loyalty programmes related to the foregoing; and services and products in the foregoing categories offered by the Group's affiliated partners;
- —If you do not wish the Group to use or provide your data for the above direct-marketing purposes, you may notify the Group in writing by email at [email protected] to opt out of direct-marketing activities.
5. Client Rights
- —Check whether the Group holds any data relating to you and whether it is entitled to use such data;
- —Request the Group to correct any inaccurate data relating to you; and
- —Ascertain the Group's policies and practices in relation to data, and the categories of personal data held by the Group relating to you.
